Our Mission

The SLVTN Project is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization.  Our mission is to serve the homeless community with dignity, compassion, and practical care.  Through the provision of essential supplies, services, and support, we seek to meet the immediate needs while honoring the inherent worth of every person we encounter.  We believe that no one should face hunger or hardship alone.

About The SLVTN Project

Our Story

The SLVTN Project was born from a simple act of compassion and a calling that could not be ignored.

After retiring from a career as a first responder, Andrew Smuskiewicz found himself searching for purpose. For decades, he had dedicated his life to protecting and serving others. But when the uniform came off, one question remained:

"What's next?"

For years, he searched for the answer. Then one day, he stopped searching and simply prayed for God to show him where he was needed most.

The answer came in an ordinary parking lot.

Andrew noticed a man experiencing homelessness standing on a curb and felt compelled to buy him a sandwich. To his surprise, the man declined. Having been given tainted food before, he no longer trusted food from strangers.

When Andrew asked what he truly needed, the man's response was simple:

"Pray for me."

That moment changed everything.

As Andrew drove away, he felt a message placed on his heart:

"Take care of My people."

Soon afterward, he began volunteering with homeless outreach efforts, preparing and serving meals to individuals facing some of life's greatest hardships. But he wanted to understand more. After each outreach event, he walked among those he served and asked a simple question:

"What do you need most when you're living on the streets?"

The answer was remarkably consistent.

High-protein snacks, bottled water, nonperishable food, and hygiene products were always part of the conversations. Basic necessities that many of us take for granted but can make the difference between hope and despair for someone struggling to survive.

Those conversations became the foundation of The SLVTN Project.

Together with his wife and children, Andrew began assembling care packs by hand and distributing them directly to people experiencing homelessness. What started as a small act of service quickly grew into a mission dedicated to meeting immediate needs while treating every person with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Today, The SLVTN Project is a 100% volunteer-driven nonprofit organization serving communities throughout Texas, with a vision of expanding nationwide. There are no paid staff members. Every care pack is assembled by volunteers. Every outreach effort is powered by volunteers.

When you support The SLVTN Project, you are helping place food into someone's hands. You are providing necessities to someone sleeping outdoors. You are reminding another human being that they have not been forgotten.

The need is great, but so is the opportunity to make a difference.

With your support, we can reach more individuals, distribute more care packs, expand into more communities, and continue answering the call to serve those who are often overlooked.

The SLVTN Project believes that service doesn't retire, it evolves.

The SLVTN Project is proof of that belief.

Together, we can bring hope where there is hardship, dignity where there is struggle, and compassion where it is needed most.

Together, we can make sure no one feels forgotten.

Every mission has a beginning.

The first photo captures something we'll never forget…our very first donation. One package. One act of kindness. A reminder that every movement starts with someone willing to give.

Because of that generosity that first donation has grown into 207 food packages that will be distributed during our very first homeless outreach event.

These aren't just bags.
They're conversations.
They're prayers.
They're reminders to someone who may feel forgotten that they are seen, valued, and loved.

One of the things we're most proud of is how far every dollar goes. Each food pack costs approximately $4.00 to assemble, meaning every donation, no matter the dollar amount, or donated supplies, directly helps place hope into someone's hands.

As we prepare for The SLVTN Project's first homeless outreach event, we're overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who has donated, volunteered, prayed, and believed in this mission. Every item you see represents the compassion of people who chose to make a difference.

This is only the beginning.

Together, we're providing hope...one person, one conversation, and one care package at a time.

Thank you for helping us turn compassion into action.
